TREASURED BY GOD!

My husband and I were hosting a prayer and worship night at our home on a particular Friday. While we had secured a speaker (whom neither of us had ever met), I sought the Lord for a Word to share with the group.  This is what I saw. 

VISION 

He showed me a brown treasure chest with brassy gold edges and gems along w some  beautiful distinguishable rubies on the outside. It looked like a hidden treasure chest you’d find underwater. I opened it up and there was one huge diamond in it; I couldn’t believe it.  It was so heavy that clearly I could never really wear it but felt the Lord wanted me to.  I was overcome emotionally by the immense love of God I was experiencing and at the same time overcome by the absolute inability to receive it personally.  

My next question is always What does this mean? What are you trying to impress upon me, Lord?  And He is so faithful to answer. 

INTERPRETATION 

The gospel of Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God are referred to in the Bible as treasure hidden in a field .

Similarly, high value and wisdom is represented by rubies.  The gems on the outside of the treasure chest can depict blessings you can see in a person who is a believer.  The deep red color can also represent the blood of Jesus, shed for us, which covers us daily, just as the gems covered the chest.   I believe the diamond represents Jesus and the GREATEST treasure of all, the gift of salvation. When someone puts a ring on your finger it means authority, covenant and that you are adopted into a family. A perfect example of this is when the prodigal son returned home and his father put a ring on his finger. He wasn’t perfect, in fact he made a lot of mistakes and even left his father and family to pursue his own lusts and desires. Yet, when he had lost everything and was starving, he knew where to go for help.  His father never hesitated but ran to him the moment he saw him and welcomed him back home, putting a ring on his finger.  This all points to God confirming one’s identity in Christ. 

So many times in life, I have personally struggled being able to receive God’s love because it’s a gift, it’s not something we earn.   It is when I recognize I’m broken and God is perfect that it feels so utterly impossible that He could really love me that much. Like the weight of the diamond, his love is too extravagant for any of us to ever carry or merit so we need to allow God to uphold us. I believe the message is to stop striving to be good enough to wear the ring and instead to trust that what he did for us on the cross made us worthy. When He placed the diamond on my finger, He was telling me and showing me how he sees all his adopted children.   I believe he was saying that we are his jewels, his very own treasure. 

Malachi 3:17 

“They shall be mine,” says the Lord of Hosts, “On the day that I make them my JEWELS, my own special treasure.“ (NKJV and NLT)

Matthew 13:44 

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure found in a field, which a man found and hid; and for the joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. ( NKJV)

Proverbs 3:15 

“Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.” (NKJV)

Matthew 26:27-28

Then He took the cup (of red wine) and gave thanks and gave it to them saying,”Drink from it, all of you.  For this is MY BLOOD of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 

Part Two of this TESTIMONY 

The speaker that night was introduced by a friend of ours who knew her and recommended we invite her to share her testimony.   She asked if she could share something the Lord had given before sharing her testimony.  Of course, we agreed to that. 

This young woman said the Lord showed her a picture of a treasure chest. She expected that inside would be beautiful sparkling jewels.  But when the top of the chest opened, she saw a multitude  of people inside with their faces shining upward towards her. And she heard the Lord say. “THESE are my TREASURES !”

I was amazed and deeply humbled  as this confirmed the same message I had received ! 

Only God Himself could have orchestrated such an evening. Oh, how He loves us! If we can only receive it!
