Be An Outpost

Vision

While I was seeking the Lord in prayer, I saw him laying out a train track ahead of me and asked, “What’s my destination?”

A clear picture came into view. It was two vertical poles in the ground with a wooden sign nailed across the top -“OUTPOST”was printed in large letters. Printed material which seemed to be some type of legal document tied with twine appeared before me.  I asked the Lord, “What am I supposed to do?”

Immediately following, I distinctly heard the word, “agreement.” And then I noticed several black and white papers with many accusations written on them. A blazing camp fire came into view followed by this response “Throw it in the fire .. disintegrate it!”

Interpretation

I sought the Lord for the Interpretation of this vision and this is what I believe the message to be.

The Lord has laid out a track or pathway for each of his children on earth.  One of the goals he has for us in this journey is to be strong and secure in Him.  We are a type of “outpost” or part of his kingdom on earth.  An outpost can be an individual, a small group of people or a church representing Christ as ambassadors on earth.  It’s a fortress of hope and healing and a place where we are trained through Bible study, time with Jesus, prayer and fellowship with other believers in order to become more like Jesus. It’s a place where others can find hospitality, a “safe place”  and God’s love. It is in essence a place of protection from our adversary.

The Lord desires that we become equipped to handle any surprise attacks the enemy would send our way.

As Christians, we need to be proactive and sharpen our weapons of warfare. The experiences and trials we face in life can develop and train us to become outposts.  Most importantly, we must believe His Word and his promises so that our hearts will be fortified with courage and guidance for our journey. In doing so, we increasingly gain more territory from our adversary. Then we will become a strategic presence, a remote fortress and stronghold of protection, grounded in the Lord.

As ambassadors for Christ, we need to choose what is right and live lives that please God and reflect his love, kindness and righteousness. Furthermore, we will receive strength and encouragement when we fellowship and serve in unity with other believers in the church.   As we grow in these areas, we must remain on the track he has laid out before us and follow him closely.  It is challenging as there are roadblocks which the enemy places before us.

One of the roadblocks we may encounter is accusations. The devil is the accuser of the brethren.  However, if we allow the accuser to abuse us with past accusations, we will be held back on our journey by dwelling on former sins and mistakes. Confessing our sins to the Lord and receiving Jesus’s forgiveness and righteousness will free us from that burden.

Another blockage is making (false) agreements with the enemy about ourselves and others.

For instance, “I can’t really minister to anyone because I don’t know enough.  I don’t have a Bible degree. “ I can’t volunteer in the children’s ministry because I don’t know if the children or the other teachers would like me .”

When we renounce those lies and break agreement with the enemy, we become free to move ahead in our walk with the Lord and to fulfill his will and purpose for our lives. The Lord will always go before us and prepare the way. He will fight for us and never leave us nor forsake us all of our days.

Jeremiah 1:18 & 19

For see, today I have made you strong like a fortified city,

that cannot be captured like an iron pillar or a bronze wall. You will stand against the whole land, the kings, officials, priests and the people of the land.

2 Corinthians 5:20-21

Therefore, we are AMBASSADORS for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.”

He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Psalm 27:11

Teach me how to live, oh LORD. Lead me along

the right path for my enemies are waiting for me.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,  I long to be your ambassador , an outpost where you reside and reign.  May I be strong in you, Lord and in the power of your might, rooted and grounded in your Word.  Fill me continually with your Holy Spirit and may a full arsenal of spiritual weapons be implanted in me, never to be blindsided by the enemy.  As an outpost, may your peace and love be ever present and may I be a source of comfort and safety for those you send to me.
